My First Digital Layout

I'm taking an online class on digital scrapbooking using adobe photoshop. I love it!! Here is my first layout. I've actually created this layout 3 times in the past 3 years (I keep forgetting how to do it!) but now I'm hooked and I'm taking more lessons to expand what little I already know so I can keep up with it. It's so fun!

By the way, the class I'm taking is a video tutorial, self-paced class found on Jessicasprague.com. It's her beginning class called up and running. After I complete this one, I plan on taking her other 2 more advanced classes. She makes it so easy!

This one's for Lane...

Our Little DJ

She loves putting these headphones on and every time we put them on her, for some reason, she goes right to her music table. It just made us think of Lane!

She's busy mixing her own rendition of The Itsy Bitsy spider, Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee, and Where, Oh Where, Has my Little Dog Gone.

I was so sad this one was blurry!!

Addi's Story Time

I could listen to this all day. Well, I pretty much do. It's her favorite thing. She reads most of the day and even after nap, she likes me to bring her a pile of books in her crib. Then, she'll stay in the crib and read for about 30 min. Now, if I can only learn this language, then we could finally learn to communicate...

Catching up

We have been keeping busy and having fun since our last post in November. I have a TON of pictures since then because I took the challenge to take a picture everyday. I haven't missed a day since New Years! Here's a bit of what we have been up to...

Alyssa got the cutest haircut by Emily

We've been working on reading with Alyssa. She's doing pretty well, but she doesn't like to sit and do it very much. When she does get the words right, she is so proud. This book, Hot Dog, is one of her first books she has read.

Steve and Rob and a few of Steve's friends from work took Lys fishing on a Saturday morning. She was besides herself with excitement when she heard that Dad was going to take her fishing. She just couldn't wait to share a fishing pole with Dad.

Take a look at that prize fish that Steve caught.

We were sick for about ten days in the beginning of February and we never left the house. Towards the end it was horrible, but we had fun playing in our pjs most mornings. One morning we built marble races and the girls loved every moment.

Currently, Alyssa's favorite thing to do every SINGLE day is play with her stuffed animals. The games range from playing Super Lyssa, where she has to save her animals from the bad guys, to playing house, to playing pet store. She takes ALL of the animals anywhere she goes all over the house. This picture was taken on another sick day when she brought all her pets downstairs.

Addi's most recent favorites are reading books and building towers with her pegs. This pegboard set has been one of the best toys ever!

Here she is reading books with her wild hair. It is so crazy curly!

The other day we were playing in the backyard with Katherine and Savannah. All of a sudden we look over at Addi and there she is, as still as a statue, posing on Alyssa's scooter with this bucket on her head. Thank goodness I had my camera. That was a funny moment! She looked so serious.

And last, but definitely not least, we celebrated our 7th anniversary. Steve surprised me and booked a two night stay and the Fairmont Princess hotel in Scottsdale. It was so relaxing! We slept in, took naps, went shopping, watched movies, ate at yummy restaurants, and the time went way too fast! I loved every moment! Thanks so much Kent and Kathleen for watching our girls! They had way too much fun and Alyssa wished it had been longer. I'm sure if Addi could talk, she would have shared the same feelings.

On the first night, there was a knock at our door and the hotel had given us a bottle of wine, which we obviously didn't accept, and chocolate covered strawberries. These were no ordinary chocolate covered strawberries. They were heavenly!!! Oh, I have not stopped dreaming about them ever since. The strawberries were dressed in chocolate tuxedoes, and they were huge and so sweet!

Our favorite part of the room we stayed in was the fireplace and our only complaint was the tiny TV. We pulled the couch over to watch better because it was too hard to watch from the bed. Kind of ridiculous cuz that's one of the best things about being in a hotel room - watching movies in bed! So fun. Oh well.

This weekend was the allstar basketball game weekend. There were so MANY people and tons of famous people too. We didn't see anyone famous (only heard other people taking about who they saw), but if Tracy were with us, we would have seen at least three I'm sure. Here is the view from our room, by the way.

Steve didn't want me to take any of pics of just him posing, but he's the better photographer anyway. So you get to see all my pretty poses. It was so beautiful there!

I have loved being married to this man for seven years! And I look forward to the rest of forever and ever!

My Little Indian

I dropped Lys off for school on Friday not knowing what was planned for the day and when I went to pick her up, this is what she looked like! So cute!

Then she sang me her indian song in the car and again at home. I love it!

Halloween

This kid was so excited for Halloween she could hardly stand it. She asked how many days left until Halloween EVERYDAY!! When it was over, she kept asking, "Why is it over?" over and over and over again.

Alyssa and I made this shirt that we had found on familyfun.com. She colored all the faces so carefully and would say, "This one is going to be perfect!" before coloring each one. She was trying so hard to do a good job and I thought it was too cute.

Alyssa was a "nice" Cruella de Ville. I was even able to get her to take a nap before trick or treating (2 hours!!). I told her she would get to stay up later to trick or treat. She liked that idea.

As for little Addi...she was our sweet strawberry. She was a little cranky and never wanted to be put down to walk to the doors to trick or treat. What's new? Actually it turned out that she just wasn't feeling too good and was really thirsty. Aww, that makes me so sad! I can't wait until she can finally communicate with us. (We made an appointment with a speech therapist on Monday for an evaluation at the direction of a few doctors!!! Can't wait to get started!)

Quite a few people told us that the black part of Alyssa's hair wasn't going to wash out. Steve was soooo nervous! He couldn't wait to get home to wash it out to see how it was going to turn out. But there was no problem at all!
