There's so much to blog about since we moved here. I thought I'd start with the present and work in some of the things we did over the summer as I go along. So to start, here are the girls today on their first day of school.
(She wouldn't wear the cute shoes I got to match the outfit! She said they hurt her feet, which is true of 99% of the shoes I buy her!)
Alyssa woke up extra early because she couldn't sleep. She said she woke up 3 or 4 times in the middle of the night. Then she couldn't eat as much breakfast because of her butterflies. She helped me pick out her hairstyle the day before. We found it on pinterest. She was so proud of it and she said she got lots of compliments!
I had to wake Addi up for school. It took a lot of effort. She was so tired even though we went to bed early. I bet it took her awhile to fall asleep last night. Poor girl. I wish I took a picture of her hair in the back. It had criss-crossing braids that turned out cute too!
On the way to school, Alyssa said, "I'm nervous." Then Addi said, "I am too." They get to walk together to the cafeteria to meet both of their teachers. It's good they get to walk together especially because the school does not allow parents to walk them to their classes even on the first day! You could only drive up and drop off the kids. Knowing this, we visited the school several times this past few weeks. We were ready!
When they got home, Addi was full of energy! She had a day filled with excitement starting off with a hunt for the cookies that the gingerbread man stole (this was to help give the kids a tour of the school). Poor Alyssa was just the opposite. She said her teacher was so boring and didn't do anything fun on the first day. I'm already not liking this teacher. My first impression at back-to-school night wasn't all that great either. Who doesn't do something fun on the first day of school in elementary school!?!
As we drove away, Ben asked many times to go to school. He kept saying he wanted the girls. Then I had to drop him off at babysitting at the gym all by himself. Thank goodness his favorite friend here in Danville showed up to play!
